For larger luxury kitchens, open-plan kitchen-dining combos, or full gut jobs that include moving walls or relocating plumbing, step up to a 20-yard dumpster. The extra capacity prevents mid-project overflow and avoids the cost and delay of a second rental. Kitchen remodels produce a predictable mix of materials, and almost all of it is accepted in our standard flat-rate rental. Cabinets — base cabinets, upper cabinets, pantry units, and the trim and crown molding around them — all go in. Particleboard, MDF, plywood-box, and solid-wood cabinets are equally welcome.

Countertops are accepted in all common materials: laminate, butcher block, quartz, granite, marble, and solid surface. Granite and quartz are heavy — a single 10-foot run of granite can weigh 200-400 pounds — so let us know up front if your kitchen has extensive stone countertops so we can right-size the rental.

Flooring includes tile (ceramic and porcelain), vinyl, laminate, hardwood, and underlayment. Tile is dense and adds weight quickly, especially when you are also removing the thinset and backer board underneath.

Appliances like ranges, ovens, dishwashers, microwaves, and range hoods are accepted. Refrigerators and freezers that still contain refrigerant cannot go in — federal regulations require refrigerant recovery before disposal. If your fridge has already been drained and certified by an HVAC tech, it can be loaded; otherwise, our team can point you to a local appliance-recycler that handles refrigerant.

Drywall, lumber, backsplash tile, fixtures, light fixtures, and the old plumbing rough all go in without restriction.

A handful of materials are excluded from every dumpster rental — not because we want to be difficult, but because the disposal facility will reject the load or the materials are hazardous to load handlers. For a kitchen remodel, the most common exclusions to be aware of are:

• Refrigerators and freezers with refrigerant — must be evacuated by a certified tech first
• Paint, stain, and solvents — liquid paint is not accepted; fully dried/hardened paint cans (lid off, contents solid) are fine
• Batteries — including the alkaline batteries from old smoke detectors and the lithium batteries in cordless tools
• Fluorescent tubes and CFL bulbs — contain mercury; LED and incandescent bulbs are accepted
• Propane tanks and aerosol cans under pressure — even small camping-stove tanks need to be empty
• Cleaning chemicals and drain cleaners — common items found under the kitchen sink during demo
• Asbestos-containing materials — older kitchens (pre-1980) may have asbestos in vinyl flooring or popcorn ceiling; test before demo
